Aloha Kristin, I hope you don't mind, but I have copied and pasted your questions so that I can answer them to my best knowledge. So with that said you have asked what kind of documents you show the parents? Do you have descriptions of the child's documents? How effective do you think this kind of communication is? How do you think it fosters more/fewer conversations with parents? In TS Gold  when you first sign in the system there is icon's on top of the screen one of the icons is Teach you selected that icon and there is your site to do lesson plans, however in the teach section there is also an icon that states family conferences, here is where you can go and share information with families such as assessments charts and anecdotes on the children. As I have stated TS Gold is not as easy as everyone thinks it is because you have to do a lot of searching yet once you achieve mastering the system it can be a real time saver when it comes to assessments. I believe this site is very effective for my parents when it pertains to fostering communication. The reason why I state this is because although the site itself takes time to learn, the information on the site helps parents to understand what we are teaching the children and what the child is capable of doing.  For example when it comes to the anecdotes, if I where to share with a parent a child's social growth in development the anecdote states what level the child is in with a small description of what the child is capable of doing the reason why it fosters conversations is because the parents are now given information and in return if they have any question on how they can help their child development they know how to ask the question by using the terms we use as teachers  instead of struggling with words. I hope this was helpful information and thank you for commenting on my post. It is not that I know a lot on teaching strategies because I am still learning the system my self, however, because I work with it every day I feel that I am getting stronger in it. P.S here is a link  and a  screenshot picture of the domains that we follow in TS Gold so that way you have a visual of what I am talking about when it comes to anecdotes :)

Aloha Lynette,   You Have asked why I feel TS gold doesn't offer enough math, Science or creative art activities and why I feel that is important to have in the classroom. TS Gold does offer some of those activities however it has been through my experience that the activities are more based on literacy. This is my own observation other teachers might feel different. It has been through my experience where though literacy might be considered the most important domain for some teachers, I feel passionate about the creative domain and cognitive domains. A lot of teachers feel that literacy is the key into a child understanding and communication and that is true yet math and science helps the children to use their mind and problem solve which connects to approaches to learning which is important when it pertains to development. The creative arts offer children a way to freely express their selves which connects with socal emotion and literacy. All the domains if you think about are connecting with each other to help the child succeed in life.  So that's why I feel that math, science, and creative arts are important along with litercary because  all help the child develop. I hope this helps answer your question to my post. Have a great day Aloha Cori.
